Tools for Teaching Tips, ideas, techniques, and experiences for making the daily task of teaching fun and productive
Hit It! Students identify something by throwing a ball.
Write words (whatever the students are to identify) on the index cards which are taped to the popsicle sticks and then placed in the bottle (so that the stick falls in and the word remains above). A student is given a question/statement and then has to hit one of the words. As always, forming teams adds more interest and friendly competition which drives some to excel.
For example, I wrote the words list, write, it, and, scissors on 5 separate index cards, taped them onto popsicle sticks, then inserted them into 5 separate soda bottles (pictured). The students stand at theother end of the table with a ball(pictured). I randomly select or choose a part of speech, sucha as and they have to decide which word is a noun, throw the ball at it, and knock it down. |
